Welcome to Waymaker

Together we can help the less privileged become independent in various aspects of life.

WHO WE ARE

Waymaker is a non-profit organization created in 2019 with the aim of helping the less privileged to become independent in various aspects of life.

We are a faith-based nonprofit organization rooted in the teachings of Christ, dedicated to uplifting communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Our mission is to empower individuals through sustainable farming, mentorship, and holistic development, all guided by Christian values. We believe in nurturing both the spiritual and practical needs of the people we serve, helping them to cultivate the land, build thriving small businesses, and grow in faith. Through our programs, we aim to create self-sustaining communities where individuals can prosper spiritually, economically, and socially, transforming lives and building a brighter future for all.

WHAT WE DO

01

— We Educate

Waymaker  is dedicated to empowering women, children, and families in rural communities of Congo through education. We believe that access to knowledge is a fundamental right and a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. Our work focuses on equipping individuals with the skills and information they need to improve their lives, promote gender equality, and foster a brighter future for their families and communities.

02

— We build

Waymaker is dedicated  to fostering sustainable development in rural communities by supporting farming initiatives and micro-business ventures. Through training programs, access to seeds, tools, and financial support, we help local families start their own farm’s to  reduce food insecurity and boost their yields. By promoting self-sufficiency, we aim to build resilient communities where families can thrive and create better futures for themselves.

03

— We Strengthen

Waymaker strives to strengthen economic independence and stabiity in rural communities through entrepreneurship and farming . We believe fostering these skills strengthens the community at the micro and macro level by creating new opportunities for growth and development.

04

— We Care

Our organization is deeply committed to providing care and support for orphaned children, ensuring they grow up in a safe, nurturing, and loving environment. Through our orphanage, we offer more than just shelter—we provide education, healthcare, emotional support, and a sense of family.

IMPACT STORIES

Young boy abandoned by family becomes vital organization member

A young boy abandonned by his family in the village of Miabi due to his physical disbaility, when our organization entered his community we found him homeless and begging in the street. Due to his state of poverty he was able to afford a wheelchair, instead crawled on all fours to get around. We immediately took him under our wing and began a fundraising campaign to obtain a wheelchair from the neighboring city of Kinshasa and after a few months were able to reach our goal. Today, he is a vital part of our organization, now a young adult he oversees day to day farming responsibilities and mentors the youth in the orphanage.

From farm to table : Pondu farm brings financial stability for local families

In 2021 we planted pondu ( cassava leaves) and ngai ngai ( Native hisbiscus) on the land with the hopes of the harvest generating income for our mothers and feeding our families. With our crops we were able to equip families with the ressources to build a micro-business selling in the market, generating income and putting food on the tables for their families.
